‘Travel Trade Athens 2017’ Event Aims to Attract More Visitors to Greek Capital

While 2017 is turning into an all-time record year for Athens tourism, with more than 5 million visitors, the Municipality of Athens is continuing its efforts to boost visitor numbers to the Greek capital with its signature annual trade event, an announcement said on Wednesday.

The countdown for Travel Trade Athens 2017, a leading event that aims to strengthen tourism for the financial revitalization and development of Athens, has begun.

A few places remain for attendance to the event’s workshop this year. The closing date for registration to Travel Trade Athens 2017 is September 1.

Organized by the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ΕΑΤΑ) through the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB), the fifth meeting event of Greek professionals to promote Athens as an attractive cultural, artistic, and modern, city break and Meeting Industry destination, will take place during October 2-3 at the Hotel Grande Bretagne in Athens.

The 5th Travel Trade Athens is expected to host more than 100 hosted buyers, representing tourism organizations and agencies, conference and event organizers, who will have B2B meetings with Athens’ and Greece’s foremost tourism professionals.

According to the municipality, within just four years, the event has already clocked up 9,500 meetings between foreign buyers and Greek suppliers, leading to a significant number of new collaborations.

The 5th Travel Trade Athens is being held in cooperation with the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA), IGLTA – International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association and CAT Publications and held under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry and with the support of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), the General Panhellenic Federation of Tourism Enterprises (GEPOET) and the Athens – Attica & Argosaronic Hotel Association.

Aegean Airlines and Visa are “Diamond” sponsors of this year’s event and Athens International Airport and the Attica Region are “Platinum” sponsors.
