Tender to Launch for Piraeus-Kythira-Crete Ferry Route
The Greek Shipping Ministry will launch a tender to find a ferry operator to run the Piraeus – Kythira – Antikythira – Kissamos (Kastelli, Crete) route after Deputy Shipping Minister Nektarios Santorinios declared Lane Sea Lines forfeit.
It is reminded that the ‘Vitsentzos Kornaros’, the ship of ferry operator Lane Sea Lines, which was serving the Piraeus-Kythira, Antikythira and Kissamos, has been docked for over a month due to mechanical failure.
The issue had spurred the reaction of Kythera locals with the mayor of the island, Efstatios Harhalakis, expressing his discontent in a letter to the Shipping Ministry.
According to reports, the routes between Piraeus and Kythira, Antikythira and Kastelli may possibly be redesigned and modifications may be made to the itineraries.
