Attica’s Archaeological Sites, Museums to Remain Closed on Thursday Morning
Archaeological sites and museums in Attica will remain closed between 8 am and 11 am on Thursday, June 6, due to a three-hour work stoppage to be held by state guards.
The Panhellenic Union of Employees for the Guarding of Antiquities (PEYFA) demands the payment of overtime work and the hiring of additional personnel.
“We demand the regular payment on Sundays and holidays from the Archaeological Receipts Fund and the immediate hiring of 200 permanent guards via the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (ASEP),” the guard’s union said in an announcement.
The guards warn of further strike action in the coming weeks.
