TUI Sensimar Elounda Village Resort by Aquila Receives ‘Green Key’ for 10th Year

The TUI SENSIMAR Elounda Village Resort & Spa by Aquila on Crete for the 10th time in a row has been awarded the Green Key Certificate for its green practices that include a series of environment-friendly initiatives. The Green Key eco–label is part of the Green Key program which runs in 17 countries.

“The Green Key committee has once again awarded our hotel for the 10th year, demonstrating that our unit continues to meet the core criteria of the program and is committed to implementing the rest in the near future,” Aquila Hotels and Resorts said in an announcement.

According to Aquila, the company has adopted a corporate environmental policy and works only with detergent and food suppliers that provide environmentally friendly products.

On the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5 and the Clean Up The Med action, Aquila recently held a series of events on its premises, including a cleaning action in cooperation with the primary school of Elounda.

“This along with other actions confirm the hotel group’s environmental policy as well as the primary objective of raising awareness among environmental stakeholders on issues related to the environment, as sustainable development concerns us all,” Aquila said.

The Elounda Village Resort & Spa was the first hotel with an “Adults Only” concept on Crete and operates under TUI’s up-market hotel franchise brand named Sensimar.

Located in the eastern part of the island near the village of Elounda, its waterfront position offers an impressive deep blue panoramic view of the Mirabello gulf.
