Athens Flying Week 2017 Prepares for September Take-off

It’s the second round this year for the Tanagra International Air Show 2017, the biggest of its kind in Greece and one of the best in Southeastern Europe, set to take place on September 16-17 within the 6th Athens Flying Week (AFW) activities.

This year’s spectacular stunts and sensational shows have moved to a new area of the Tanagra Airforce Base in efforts to facilitate accessibility and ensure the finest experience.

Aviation lovers and spotters will have the chance to see some of the world’s expert flyers defying gravity with their formations and precision flying, choreographed aerobatic and high altitude performance maneuvers, including the UK’s Red Arrows (Royal Air Force) in BAE Systems Hawk T1, Poland’s MIG-29 Demo Team in F-16s, Belgium’s Air Force F-16 Solo Display Team, Germany’s air force pilots in the cockpit of the Tornado ECR and world champion Johan Gustafsson with his glider from Sweden.

This year’s shows will also include drone flights and from Greece, the Hellenic Skydivers, the Zeus F-16 Demo Team and the T-6A Daedalus Demo Team others will be showing off their tricks.

The Royal Air Force Red Arrows team will participate in Athens Flying Week 2017.

The annual two-day aviation event boasts more than 250,000 spectators from Greece and abroad, with hours of flying action, airshow aircraft, helicopters and drones. Parking near the venue is free, and two restaurants will be operating within the Tanagra show area.
