Giant Sea Creatures Star in Greece’s 1st Kite Parade!
Giant flying sea creatures will fill the sky at the beach of Shinias in Marathonas, north east of Athens, during the 1st Kite Parade, due to take place on June 10 and 11.
Under the motto “Always look up”, the event’s organizers are inviting residents and visitors to join the kite parade, which will consist of colorful giant octopuses and other sea creatures, real or imaginary, including squibs, clownfish, sea worms, jellyfish, skates and seahorses.
The octopus is the parade’s honored species, as it is connected to the Greek sea and offers a unique spectacle when ‘”flying”, the organizers said in an announcement.
Visitors will be able to live the experience by flying their own giant kites.
The aim of the kite parade is to convey a message of joy and optimism, make people “look up” and smile. Admission to the event is free.
