The Creta Maris Beach Resort in Hersonissos, Crete, on Friday had its traditional blessing and officially opened its doors and welcomed its guests for the 2017 tourism season.

During the ceremony, the hotel’s manager Nikos Vlasiadis thanked guests and invited the Creta Maris team to continue the tradition of offering guests excellent service and authentic holiday experiences; a tradition that has been running for 42 years.

The blessing ceremony of Creta Maris was attended by the hotel's CEO, Andreas Metaxas and management staff. Guests included the commander of the Hersonissos Police Department, Yiorgos Makroyiannakis, the head of the Hersonissos Firefighting Club, Manolis Koukakis; and the Hersonissos Deputy Mayor responsible for tourism issues, Themis Mountrakis.

Founded by Nikos Metaxas in 1975, the family-owned business has since offered visitors to the island the finest services and the most memorable experiences of local culture, cuisine and hospitality.

The Creta Maris Beach Resort, part of the Metaxas Group of Companies, has operated since 1975 with a capacity of 680 rooms, suites and bungalows, six restaurants, seven bars, seven swimming pools, a gym, spa, children’s facilities, conference hall, and a great space for outdoor and indoor activities.

Besides a series of “firsts” including being the first hotel in Greece in 1995 to obtain the ISO 9001 International Quality Certificate, the Creta Maris is also among the few enterprises in the country to accommodate golfers with one of the largest golf courses in Greece.

Meanwhile, the hotel actively supports the local community by providing 92 percent of its positions to locals, and is always seeking new ways to enhance the tourism experience by annually reinvesting a portion of its yearly turnover in upgrades and modernization.
