Holy Flame to Go to 17 Greek Destinations via AEGEAN
AEGEAN Airlines will provide three extra aircraft (non commercial flights) to distribute the Holy Flame to as many Greek destinations as possible once it arrives in Athens from Jerusalem on Holy Saturday, April 15. Overall, AEGEAN and Olympic Air will transfer the Holy Flame to 17 Greek destinations for the Easter holiday.
The aircraft will depart immediately after the arrival of the Holy Flame from Jerusalem and cover three geographical areas: the Aegean, the Ionian and one towards Central and Eastern Greece. Flights will be chartered exclusively for the transfer of the Holy Flame to Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Samos, Chios, Larissa, Alexandroupoli and Limnos. The Holy Flame will also be transferred on scheduled flights to Heraklio, Mykonos, Santorini, Mytilini, Ioannina, Thessaloniki, Chania, Kos, Rhodes and Corfu on Holy Saturday.
Like every year, during holy week, AEGEAN and Olympic Air will serve a traditional Greek Easter menu. Also, on Holy Saturday, the cabin crew of AEGEAN and Olympic Air will offer Easter candles (lambades) to passengers on all domestic flights in Greece. Children up to 12 years of age will receive chocolate eggs or Easter bunnies, courtesy of AEGEAN.
