The prospects of a bilateral cooperation agreement on tourism between Greece and Kenya were discussed during a meeting held between Giorgos Tziallas, Secretary General of Tourism Policy and Development and Ambassador Tom Amolo, Political and Diplomatic Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya.
Both sides agreed to speed up the process for the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism, which would focus on gastronomy tourism, sports tourism, youth travel and pilgrimage tourism.
Ambassador Amolo stressed the need for a direct flight connection between Athens and Nairobi, which could help increase tourist flows and also benefit trade relations.
Also present at the meeting was Vicky Pantazopoulou, Honorary Consul of Kenya to the Hellenic Republic, who spoke of the friendly ties between Greece and Kenya and referred to the symbolic personal items donated by Kenyan Marathon runners and are currently on display at the Marathon Race Museum, in Marathonas, Eastern Attica.
