Greece will welcome tourism professionals and interested holidaymakers at a new exhibition space at the ITB Berlin 2017 travel trade fair that will open its doors on Wednesday, March 8.

This year Greece and other major Mediterranean destinations, including France, Gibraltar, Portugal, Cyprus and Spain, have been relocated to the entrance areas in Halls 1.1 and 2.1, directly next the South Entrance.

On the occasion of ITB, Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura will visit Berlin and attend meetings with major tour operators and journalists of the German media.

Demand for travel to Greece this year is on the up

According to recent statements by leading German tour operators, Greece is among the most popular destinations for travel this season.

During his visit to Thessaloniki recently, the head of TUI Germany, Marek Andryszak, said that bookings to Greece this season are seeing a 30 percent increase for travel to both popular and lesser known destinations in the country.

During ITB, the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) is expected to release official figures on early bookings to Greece this season.

Moreover, visitors to the Greek stand will have the opportunity to sample the country’s gastronomy and regional products. Various destinations, such as the Region of Central Greece, will hold presentations on the exhibition floor, informing professionals and visitors on their tourism offerings.

ITB Berlin 2017 will run until Sunday, March 12. Over the course of five days more than 10,000 companies from 184 countries will be represented on 1,092 stands covering 160,000 square metres and will be showcasing the global tourism industry’s latest products and trends. From Wednesday to Friday, ITB Berlin is open to trade visitors only.

Parallel with the show the ITB Berlin Convention, the largest event of its kind, will be held from Wednesday, 8 to Saturday, 11 March 2017.
