The Galaxy’s bartenders invite all to enrich their experience in cocktails by tasting the barrel aged Negroni, aged for 42 days in special oak barrels of the Hilton Athens. The Negroni Svegliato, which is based on the recipe of Salvatore Calabrese and includes coffee-flavored red vermouth and the Cuban Negroni that is mixed with Cuban rum and Aperol, are adaptations that sure to please. For those who want more spicy flavors, the Mexican Negroni that has aromas of tequila and mescal and the Scottish Negroni with smoked whiskey from the island of Ayla in Scotland, are expected to be pleasantly surprise. Meanwhile, the Negroni Sbagliato with its special light touch of sparkling wine together with sweet red vermouth, is expected to become a favorite to many.

The Negroni cocktail is made of one part gin, one part vermouth rosso (red, semi-sweet), and one part Campari, garnished with orange peel.

Few cocktails have gained the reputation of the Negroni, which comes with a good story: Legend has it that in Florence, Italy, in 1919, at Caffè Casoni (now called Caffè Roberto Cavalli), Count Camillo Negroni concocted it by asking the bartender to strengthen his favorite cocktail, the Americano, by adding gin rather than the normal soda water. The bartender also added an orange garnish rather than the typical lemon garnish of the Americano to signify that it was a different drink. And the rest is history…
