Greek Hotel Body Calls on Gov’t to Safeguard Country’s Image
The Hellenic Hotel Federation (HHF) is calling on the government to step in and ensure a positive portrayal of the country ahead of the crucial for the sector and the national economy pre-booking season.
On occasion of the ongoing road blockades carried out by farmers across Greece in protest over stringent measures and the ongoing pension reform, in a statement released on Thursday, the HHF says “any negative portrayal of Greece tarnishes the overall image of the country as a destination affecting millions of foreigners who are now choosing their holiday destinations”.
The statement underlines the need to convey an image of security and stability particularly ”at this time during the initial booking stage for the 2017 tourist season in view of fierce competition”.
”Each reservation made now is extremely valuable for the sustainability of hotels and their efforts to meet the increasing demands, particularly for those businesses operating in the current period”, the statement says.
