The northern Greek city of Serres will be hosting the 1st Balkans & Black Sea Cooperation Forum on May 25-26 with the participation of 17 countries, 42 panelists and 500 delegates.

An initiative of the Geo Routes Cultural Institute in collaboration with the Serres Regional Division, the meeting aims to bring together the peoples of the Balkan and Black Sea region in efforts to bolster ties, introduce business opportunities and strengthen the role of the 17 nations in ensuring sustainable development.

“This is an important international event which will place Serres at the heart of all the action,” Geo Routes Cultural Institute President Giannis Balakakis said during a press conference on the event, adding that the three main areas of focus will be culture, tourism and economic cooperation between countries.

In order for the forum to have results, Balakakis stressed the need for local community support and invited volunteers to play an important and necessary part in the event.

On a final note, the regional governor of Serres, Yiannis Moisiadis, expressed his confidence that the forum will showcase the offerings of Serres and the wider region.
