‘Miles Away Travel’ Wins Over the Crowds with Sifnos Showcase

Miles Away Travel brought the Cycladic island of Sifnos to Athens during the 3rd International Greek Tourism Expo held last month winning over the crowds with its innovative presentation.

Miles Away Travel founder Mara Kapiti offered expo visitors a chance to  travel to Sifnos through a model of a traditional island yard complete with its sights, smells and colors through Sifnos’ world famed pottery and much-loved cuisine, including traditional almond cookies.

Meanwhile, a video wall offered audio-visual support depicting favorite destinations, traditions, history, activities, music and much more. The highlight of the presentation was of course, Greek hospitality as extended through the locals, their smiles and warm hearts.

“Their presence, their warm comments, regardless of country of origin, filled  us with pride for our selection and their positive impressions on potential collaborations gave us strength to continue,’’ said Kapiti, referring to the dozens of visitors – including Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura – who stopped at Miles Away Travel’s mini installation.

Kapiti added that Greek Tourism Expo participants also provided insight and expressed the desire to visit lesser-known Greek destinations which will offer unique experiences and immerse them into local society and culture.
