Pioneering Greeks: Nikitas Markopoulos, Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Coco-Mat

This week we introduce Nikitas Markopoulos, the co-founder and co-owner of Coco-Mat, a company that aims to offer a good night’s sleep to all through its natural products and inspire consumers to embrace a lifestyle based on simple life values that can make every day a little happier: honesty, responsibility, hospitality.

Nikitas is a pioneer businessman with a clear target: to manufacture the best mattresses in the world, with respect to the consumer. His inspiration came from nature and its materials.

In 1989 he and Michalis Efmorfidis created the company Coco-Mat, which is now one of the most successful and recognized Greek companies.

Using nature’s wisdom as a guide and source of inspiration, Coco-Mat creates innovative products and home furniture, made with natural materials by experienced craftsmen that follow traditional carpentry methods, with respect to the environment and the region’s eco system. Moreover, in the production process, Coco-Mat uses naturally replenished raw materials, such as cotton, seaweed, wool and wood, sourced locally in Greece and Europe.

Coco-Mat has a network of some 100 stores in more than 14 countries. Coco-Mat furniture and mattresses also decorate renowned hotels in Greece and abroad.

The progress and success of Coco-Mat is based on Nikitas’ love for his business, continuous research for new product development and innovative techniques.
