Costa Navarino Wins Place Among Europe’s Top Golf Resorts
Costa Navarino and its two signature Golf Courses, The Dunes Course and The Bay Course, have been ranked 6th in Golf World magazines’ latest “European Golf Resorts Top 100” list.
The list was drawn after a six month period of meticulous research, with contributions from a number of renowned and well-travelled golfers, as well as golf writers from a number of individual countries.
“Costa Navarino is a premium golf destination, and to be recognised by experienced golfers and travellers with such a high ranking, is strong proof that our commitment and best practices are well appreciated by our guests”, said Stephanos Theodorides, managing director and vice chairman of TEMES SA – Costa Navarino.
The Top 100 Resorts list was a result of an extensive questionnaire, with the aim to assess the continent’s premium places to play and stay. The panel consisted of seven experienced journalists and golfers, and was chaired by Golf World’s Courses & Travel Editor, Chris Bertram, who each aspired to create useful and informative reference for golfers who travel, providing as much insight as possible into all aspects of each resort.
To ensure credibility and transparency, each one out of the 300 leading resorts that were evaluated was reviewed in the following categories: golf courses, practice facilities, accommodation, non-golfers’ amenities and accessibility.
Costa Navarino scored high in all categories, with its stunning golf courses and resorts obtaining top marks.
Costa Navarino is home to “The Dunes” course, the first signature 18-Hole golf course designed by Bernhard Langer, former US Masters champion and ex-captain of the European Ryder Cup team, together with European Golf Design. The Dunes Course features a 3,500 square metre golf club, as well as a Golf Academy. “The Bay” course, an 18-Hole seaside golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and located next to the historic Bay of Navarino, has been awarded amongst the “Best of the Best Golf Courses” by the Robb Report. Both golf courses have been accolated, as “Best Newcomers”, in 2014 and “Best Service” in 2015 by the organisation, “World of Leading Golf”.
