Porto Carras Grand Resort Boasts 1st Bike Friendly Hotels in Greece
In tune with the changing trends and new demands, Porto Carras Grand Resort hotels Meliton and Sithonia are the first in Greece to receive “Bike Friendly Hotel” accreditation.
The new initiative awards accommodation facilities in Greece, promoting sustainable tourism with a special Bike Friendly Hotel sticker in efforts to attract cyclists.
Located in the Halkidiki peninsula, the five-star Meliton and Sithonia meet the basic “bike-friendly” criteria which include the possibility of one-night stays, secure overnight bike storage, the provision of regional cycling maps, bike repair kits for minor repairs and maintenance, washing/drying facilities for clothes and gear, recommended bike repair and rental shops.
Halkidki as well as Porto Carras premises promise a wide variety of cycling routes for all tastes and levels.
Jointly organized by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (EEPF) and NATTOUR, the initiative was launched in July.
The Porto Carras Grand Resort has repeatedly be awarded for its best practices and its commitment to sustainable tourism policies. Besides claiming one of the country’s largest and best organized private marinas, it has been awarded for 17 consecutive years with the “Blue Flag” for the highest quality of its beaches.
