Travel writer Rachel Howard, who visited with her young family, writes about the elegance of island capital Chora’s neoclassical mansions on the sea in the travel feature for the newspaper’s digital edition, which attracts over 9.2 million unique monthly visitors.

She refers to the fact that Greeks favour the island for a quiet getaway as Andros plays host to over 70 beaches, both family-friendly and remote. She also notes that a new network of hiking routes has been established.

“Inland, the landscape is more evocative of the Scottish Highlands than the Cyclades: arched stone bridges and burbling brooks, valleys punctuated by medieval watchtowers, waterfalls spilling through chestnut forests,” she writes.

Marketing Greece arranged the the press trip to Andros with the support of airline partner Aegean as part of efforts to promote the South Aegean abroad.
