Rail Strike in Greece Called Off
Services on intercity trains, the Proastiakos suburban railway and the routes to and from Athens International Airport are to operate as normal as of Tuesday, July 19, after Greek rail workers called off planned work stoppages. Freight trains will also operate normally.
The employees of the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) had announced the work stoppages in protest against the privatization of Greek railway operator TRAINOSE. They are also demanding the signing of a collective labor contract.
According to reports, the work stoppages were called off following a meeting the unionists representing the workers had with officials in regards to the signing of a collective labor contract.
Unionists said they would redefine their stance on Friday after they received answers on the subject of the collective labor contract.
