A unique athletic experience will await all at the 3rd Porto Carras Half Marathon powered by Xterra on May 28-29 in Halkidiki, northern Greece. The event will take place within the facilities of the Porto Carras Grand Resort in Sithonia.
Organised by the Porto Carras Grand Resort in cooperation with XTERRA Greece, the two-day sports event includes a half-marathon (21km); 5km and 10km road races; swimming races of 1,000, 2,500 and 5,000 meters; and road and swimming races for the kids.
Following the success of the 2nd Porto Carras Half Marathon and the warm acceptance it received from the athletic audience of Northern Greece, Porto Carras continues to promote the value of fair play and sportsmanship for another year through this special athletic organization, which is sponsored by the Municipality of Sithonia and the Halkidiki Tourism Organization.
Running and Swimming courses
All road running races will be held on Saturday afternoon at 5:30pm, on gravel and tarmac paths that have no technical difficulties. Throughout the race, participants will enjoy the resort’s 17,000 acre landscape surrounded by natural pine forests and spectacular views of the Toroneos gulf.
The swimming races will be held on Sunday morning at 10 am, starting on the 9km and blue flag-awarded sandy beach of Porto Carras Grand Resort, on marked courses.

Participation – Registration
Anyone over 18 and in good physical condition can register either online at www.xterragreece.com or www.portocarrasmarathon.com. The entry fee includes a medal, a commemorative T-shirt, access to feeding/aid stations, a bathing cap (for competing swimmers) and electronic timing (the timing chip will be given upon receipt of the race pack at the registration office).
Registration fees for the Half Marathon and the Swimming Races are 20 euros (for each event), for the Road Races is 15 euros and for the Road & Swim Race (at any distance) is 30 euros. The children’s road and swimming races are free of charge. For participants under the age of 18, a signed permission from a parent or guardian is required.

Road Races: Water and energy gels will be available on aid stations every 5km.
Swimming Races: Water and energy gels will be available on their way out of the water.
Participants can compete with swimming goggles or a mask and a swimsuit or a coverall (wetsuit).
Not Allowed * Buoyancy or other swimming aids such as respirators, boards, hands, swimming gloves, diving fins etc. Athletes have the right to use sunscreen, oil, Vaseline or else before the start.
* The category of 60+ can use a snorkel mask.
Athletes Check In
Participants must be present in the area of Porto Carras Grand Resort at least two (2) hours before the scheduled starting time in order to collect their race pack from the registration office. Participants staying at the hotel will have the opportunity to receive their race pack from 11:30 am on Saturday (running) and from 8 am on Sunday morning (swimming).
After the completion of the events of the day, awards ceremony will take place for all categories of men and women.
