Mt Athos Area Cuisine Takes the Spotlight @ Kouzina 2016
With the Mediterranean Diet at its core, this year’s Mount Athos Area Kouzina events kick off on May 15 featuring a month full of food and culinary events dedicated to the products and cuisine of the Mount Athos region in northern Greece.
A total of 28 local producers, 13 regional associations, and more than 500 volunteers have come together, joining chef Dina Nikolaou and her expert guests for the promotion through hands-on experiences of ancient Greek, seafood, monastic, Asia Minor, Pontic, Mediterranean and Cypriot culinary traditions. In the meantime, some 100 European media representatives will have a chance to learn more about the region through planned tours.
Under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization and the Cyprus Tourism Organization, Mount Athos Area Kouzina 2016 will this year pay tribute to 2,400 years since the birth of Greek philosopher Aristotle with its “Roads of Aristotelian Honey” series.
The Mount Athos Area Kouzina month-long initiative won the gold prize during the 2016 Tourism Awards for quality in the Culinary Tourism category.
