AEGEAN, Olympic Air to Transfer Holy Flame to 17 Greek Destinations
AEGEAN Airlines will provide three extra aircraft (non commercial flights) to distribute the Holy Flame to as many Greek destinations as possible once it arrives in Athens from Jerusalem on Holy Saturday, April 30.
Overall, AEGEAN and Olympic Air will transfer the Holy Flame to 17 Greek destinations.
The aircraft, which will depart immediately after the arrival of the Holy Flame from Jerusalem, will cover three geographical areas: the Aegean, the Ionian and one towards Central and Eastern Greece. Flights will be chartered exclusively for the transfer of the Holy Flame to Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Mykonos, Samos, Kos, Chios, Mytilini, Larissa, Alexandroupoli and Limnos.
Also, the Holy Flame will be transferred on the following scheduled flights to Santorini, Heraklio, Chania, Corfu, Rhodes, Ioannina and Thessaloniki on Holy Saturday:
A3 380 Athens-Santorini, departure from Athens at 19:30 and arrival in Santorini at 20:15
A3 322 Athens-Heraklio, departure from Athens at 20:30 and arrival at Heraklio at 21:20
OA 344 Athens-Chania, departure from Athens at 21:55 and arrival in Chania at 22:45
ΟΑ 406 Athens-Corfu, departure from Athens at 21:35 and arrival at Corfu at 22:40
A3 218 Athens-Rhodes, departure from Athens at 21:40 and arrival at Rhodes at 22:40
OA 166 Athens-Ioannina, departure from Athens at 20:20 and arrival in Ioannina at 21:20
The scheduled flight Athens – Thessaloniki (A3 126) will depart at 20:00 instead of 19:00.
Like every year, during holy week, AEGEAN and Olympic Air will serve a traditional Greek Easter menu. Also, on Holy Saturday, the cabin crew of AEGEAN and Olympic Air will offer passengers Easter candles (lambades) on all international flights to Greece and all domestic flights.
