Taking place during the Routes Europe Networking event, the annual Routes awards are highly regarded as the most prestigious awards in the industry as they are voted for and judged by the airline network planning community.
This year, Athens Airport came in first in the 4–20 million passengers category for its full support to its airline partners. Following AIA in the same category were Prague Airport (Highly Commended), Budapest Airport, Cologne Bonn Airport and Warsaw Chopin Airport.
AIA’s communications and marketing director, Ioanna Papadopoulou, thanked the airlines for once again giving Athens Airport their vote of confidence.
“With our passenger traffic on a positive course during the first quarter of 2016, we continue, in close cooperation and dialogue with our airline partners, to deliver complete airport-style marketing programs, while systematically promoting our destination, Athens“, Ms Papadopoulou said.
“Our campaign entitled ‘Aviation Marketing delivered in a novel way’ expresses our effort to analyze the needs of each airline, to adapt our strategy accordingly and deliver innovative and pioneering programs to support airlines. With this approach, we believe that we are effectively and consistently supporting development plans and activities of airlines in our market.”
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was announced as the overall winner of the Routes Europe edition of the Routes 2016 Marketing Awards.
AIA is the most rewarded airport for its airport marketing performance in the annual Routes awards — part of the largest route development event for the entire European region. Athens Airport has received 15 honors in a period of 12 years.
Routes Europe 2017 will take place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, April 23 – 25, 2017.
