Lufthansa: Verdi Strike on Wednesday to Affect Tens of Thousands of Travelers
German airline Lufthansa on Monday said that there will be cancellations, disruptions and delays of flights on Wednesday, April 27, to and from Germany’s six airports due to strike action by ground staff.
German public services trade union Verdi has called for strikes in the areas of ground handling, passenger checks and airport fire services at Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Dortmund and Hannover airports on April 27.
Lufthansa said there will be “extensive” cancellations of flights at Lufthansa’s home Frankfurt and Munich hubs but disruptions and delays “must also be expected at all airports involved”.
The airline issued a special timetable to provide booked travelers with information for their Wednesday travel arrangements.
Verdi is calling for a six percent wage increase for its 2.14 million workers.
