Minister Kountoura Inks Greece-Israel Tourism Pact
Boosting tourism to Greece via cruise travel and package deals were two of the actions that Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura and her Israeli counterpart Yariv Levin agreed on during her visit to Jerusalem within the framework of the Greece-Israel High-Level Cooperation Council this week.
The two officials signed a memorandum of cooperation pledging to strengthen tourism ties between the two countries with joint initiatives as well as working together to increase the tourist flow to new markets.
The Greek minister also met with her Cypriot counterpart, Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, during the first tripartite summit between Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held in Nicosia this week.
“Focusing on common objectives and challenges, a regional approach has the potential to heighten the trust between partner countries and thus contribute to an increased sense of security, stability and prosperity in the region,” Mrs Kountoura said after her meeting with Mr Lakkotrypis.
