BlueGrowth II: Greek Startup Blue Economy Competition Final on Jan 19
The award ceremony for the finalists of the second edition of BlueGrowth, the marine challenge competition that seeks to deliver innovative sustainable business ideas for products and services relating to the blue economy, will take place on Tuesday, January 19, at the Piraeus Marine Club at 4:30 pm.
The competition is hosted by Aephoria.net, a sustainable-business education and incubation program for startup companies operating in Greece. The aim of the BlueGrowth marine challenge competition is to provide the necessary infrastructure and conditions for the best startup ideas to mature and eventually become real businesses.
Interested parties were called in October 2015 to submit business ideas relating to the local sea and aquatic resources that aim to enhance the blue economy through a range of environmental, economic and social responsibility initiatives. Proposals were then evaluated by a committee. The teams that received the highest scores will pitch their proposals at the Piraeus Marine Club on Tuesday and the top three finalists will be selected.
The top five finalists will receive 5,000 euros worth of business services and free entry to the incubation/acceleration program offered by Aephoria.net at their co-working space in Athens. The first prize winner will win a free scholarship to the International MBA of the Athens University of Economics & Business.
In June the finalists will have the opportunity to present their business ideas at the Posidonia 2016 event at the Metropolitan Expo.
The BlueGrowth competition is supported by the Municipality of Piraeus.
