Rena Dourou, Governor of Attica Region

Official Tourism Message

The Region of Attica, being entirely aware of the current economic situation and committed to a serious development perspective, emphasizes henceforth the high-profile systematic promotion of all cultural and tourist treasures Attica prides itself on. These treasures can represent a major attraction for all those wishing to get acquainted with a unique place which matches tradition and culture while respecting the environment and strengthening the regional infrastructures.

In this context, a series of targeted initiatives are to be launched, which aim at highlighting Attica in a continuous way as a safe and attractive tourist destination, as well as upgrading the regional infrastructures through actions and projects. A key prerequisite for this though, is to first address the problems related to the daily lives of citizens. This can be achieved through specific actions to deliver sustainable infrastructure throughout the region — infrastructure is also necessary for optimizing the services related to the tourism product.

This is a challenge we are winning every day, as part of a continuous process to secure new momentum.

Therefore, we must make sure that the high standards of all our tourism infrastructures are maintained, and even upgraded, so as to offer quality services to visitors, thus consolidating the positive image of Attica on the world map.

In the light of these considerations, Attica Region welcomes this year’s annual “Philoxenia 2015” and WTM London 2015, wishing every success.
