Athens Municipal Police Back on City Patrol
The Greek capital’s municipal police force will be back on the streets as of next week, the Municipality of Athens announced, two years after it was disbanded.
The city force will be informing residents and visitors of their role and responsibilities by issuing pamphlets during an information campaign until October 25.
As of October 26, the municipal force will enforce the law and impose fines and penalties for violations.
Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis is calling on residents and visitors to work hand-in-hand with the municipal police in order to make Athens a safer, more functional and friendlier city.
In the meantime, anyone wishing to file complaints or ask for information can do so on the Municipal Police hotline 1595, 24 hours a day or via e-mail at tep@cityofathens.gr
