‘Hydra Opsis’ Photo Exhibit to Kick Off Next Month
The “Hydra Opsis” photo exhibit featuring the work of Greek photographer Tassos Venetsanopoulos will open on September 5 and run through to November 1 at the Historical Archives – Museum of Hydra (IAMY).
Capturing the beauty of the Saronic island through the prism of theater, Mr Venetsanopoulos’ works aim to bring out the underlying beauty of Hydra, while focusing on the theatricality of its locales.
Born in Athens in 1950, Venetsanopoulos initially studied economics at Athens University, but photography won him over. With an extensive portfolio of works for local media, Venetsanopoulos’ photography has also featured in the Greek edition of National Geographic and Traveler, among others.
Founded in 1918, IAMY is very active in the promotion of culture organizing events, seminars, art and photography exhibits, book presentations as well as lectures. The museum is also open to historians interested in exploring it s rich archive.
