Ellinair Extends Seasonal Domestic Routes Due to Popular Demand
Greek carrier Ellinair, member of Mouzenidis Group, announced on Monday that it is extending three summer season routes in Greece until the end of September.
The routes to be extended until September 28 are Thessaloniki–Santorini (and return flight), with a five times a week frequency, Athens–Santorini (and return flight), also with a five times a week frequency and Thessaloniki–Heraklion (and return flight), with a four times a week frequency.
The three domestic routes, which were started on June 15, were initially planned to operate until September 7.
In the two months of operation of the routes, however, Ellinair carried over 20,000 passengers, achieving average airline occupancy of 80 percent on the routes. The flight from Santorini to Athens in particular, was achieving a load factor of 90 percent.
“It is rare for a new airline to achieve such high occupancy rates, in such a short time since the launch of its routes, in just two months”, Ellinair’s commercial director, Stavros Daliakas, said.
He added that despite the difficulties of this year’s tourism season, Ellinair’s management feels proud as more than 40,000 domestic passengers chose to fly with the airline.
