Greek hotels, the quality of services offered and the warm welcome are ensuring guaranteed satisfaction for visitors to Greece, in the first half of 2015, according to data released by the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE).

SETE Intelligence found that compared to competing destinations, Greek hotels received a higher satisfaction rating in the first six months of 2015 at 84.3 percent, with the General Satisfaction Index (GRI: Global Review Index) based on ratings from 94,940 customers to Greek hotels against 455,852 at competing destinations.

Accommodation in the northern Greece region of Epirus won over the crowd with a rating of 88.6 percent, followed by the Cyclades at 88 percent.

Overall satisfaction for Greece was higher than rival destinations but did mark a slight decrease of 0.10 percent compared with 2014.

The overall food services index, meanwhile, recorded a significant increase by 1.0 percent, as competitors the Cyclades, Crete and Halkidiki out-winning rival destinations.

In the meantime, Athens is still ahead of Rome but behind Istanbul and Barcelona, while the northern port city of Thessaloniki continues to lag behind Bologna and Izmir, being the only destination to score below 80 percent in the quality index.

Online reputation and social media management company ReviewPro’s GRI is a benchmark for guest satisfaction and tracks Greece’s performance over time by comparing the country’s online reputation to its competitors.
