The Global Travel Group recently revealed that bookings to Greece are 40 percent up compared to the same period last year and are showing no signs of slowing down.

According to the Group, the most booked destinations in Greece are Rhodes, Crete and Corfu while the number of package holidays sold in the last couple of weeks has doubled. The average booking value has also grown more than £300.

“It’s encouraging to hear that the on-going economic turmoil in Greece is not deterring British holidaymakers from booking trips to the country”, Managing Director Andy Stark said.

Mr. Stark said that enquiries and bookings to Greece are on the up, “showcasing once again that us Brits are savvy when it comes to a good deal, informed and will travel this summer regardless of the country’s economic problems”.

He added that “stand out deals” to Greece and its islands are being reported by the group’s agents at the moment. “Travellers are snapping these up and heading out to enjoy the sunshine”, he said.

“I would encourage anyone travelling to Greece to keep abreast of the situation and ensure they take the relevant measures with cash to ensure they are well prepared, but firmly believe that a holiday to Greece right now is a good idea all round.”

The Global Travel Group is Britain’s most established independent travel chain with over 400 travel agents across the UK.
