Thomas Cook: Tourists are Enjoying Holidays ‘Without Disruption’ in Greece

Greek beachBritish tour operator Thomas Cook said on Monday that its feedback from its team and returning holidaymakers on Greece has been that it is “business as usual in the Greek resorts”, with customers continuing to enjoy their holidays without disruption.

“Greece has always been, and continues to be, an incredibly popular and important destination for Thomas Cook and great value for our holidaymakers”, the tour operator said in an updated statement for holidaymakers travelling to Greece after the country’s referendum result.

Banks in Greece are currently closed due to the ongoing financial situation in the country and Thomas Cook noted that, currently, there has been no limit imposed on the amount of cash that can be withdrawn by international credit and debit cards, or card transactions. The tour operator did, however, advise its guests travelling to Greece to continue to take euros to cover the duration of their holiday.

“We have existing contracts with hotels and airlines and we are comfortable that there is enough cash within the destination to continue to provide the quality holidays our guests have booked and expect from us”, Thomas Cook said.

The tour operator added that it is working with its destination teams and hotels to closely monitor the impact of a potential Greece exit from the Eurozone.

“A Greek exit from the Eurozone would have little impact on the holidays customers have already booked with us as all pre-paid services are provided by Thomas Cook.”
