IMF Releases Statement on Greece
Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), made the following statement on Monday, one day after a ‘no’ vote in a Greek bailout referendum.
“The IMF has taken note of yesterday’s referendum held in Greece. We are monitoring the situation closely and stand ready to assist Greece if requested to do so.”
In a referendum held on Sunday, a massive 61.31 percent of Greeks voted against the stringent austerity measures demanded by the country’s international lenders.
