ABTA Urges Travel Professionals to Attend its Convention in Greece
The chairman of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), Noel Josephides, urged delegates of the sixth ABTA Travel Matters UK conference on Wednesday to not be influenced by the financial crisis in Greece and to book to attend its next travel convention which will be hosted in the country.
The ABTA Travel Convention will take place at the The Westin Resort Costa Navarino luxury coastal resort in October.
Considered to be a leading tourism sector event, the ABTA Travel Convention is expected to attract some 500 UK travel agents/ABTA members, representatives from Google, Yahoo, TripAdvisor as well as travel writers from international media.
Mr. Josephides added that in 42 years of tour operating to Greece he has never known the country not to have problems, but that he was sure they would solve their issues for 42 years to come.
ABTA recently issued advise for holidaymakers in light of UK media reports on Greece’s financial situation.
The association does not anticipate that there will be any need for tour operators to rebook their customers to a different destination as at present there is no indication that holidaymakers will be disrupted.
