Athens “Runs to the Future” on Tuesday, June 23
On Tuesday, June 23, on the occasion of the Olympic Day, the city of Athens “runs to the future”, participating in an evening race that is part of the 4-day “Light up the Night” events that are taking place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
The “SNFCC RUN: Running into the Future” race will start at the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro) at sunset (precisely at 20:51), and, following a route that will pass through the center of Athens and Syngrou Avenue, the runners will finish at the Stavros Niarchos Park, at the worksite of the SNFCC.
The SNFCC invites runners from all over Greece, but also from abroad, to take part in this celebration of sport, and get to the finish line together at the new park of the Greek capital. It is noted that the race is not competitive in nature. The main purpose of the event is to reward effort, participation and the finishing of all runners.
Entry in the race is limited to the symbolic number of 2,016 runners, the landmark year of delivery of the SNFCC to the Greek State.
Participation in the race is free and those interested can register on SNFCCRUN’s website until the symbolic number of participations is reached.
The event is carried out in collaboration with the Hellenic Olympic Committee, celebrating Olympic Day, under the auspices of the Hellenic Police, with the assistance of EKAV (National Center of Emergency Help). The NGO “Regeneration & Progress” (Anagennisi & Proodos) is responsible for the organizing supervision of the race, with an exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
