Greek Americans Discuss Tourism With Minister Kountoura
Greek Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura discussed a series of issues concerning Hellenism in the United States and Canada with a delegation from the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), during a meeting on Thursday in Athens .
AHEPA is a leading membership-based association for the nation’s millions American citizens of Greek heritage and Philhellenes.
During the meeting, proposals to attract foreign investments from the U.S. and Canada to Greece were discussed, as well as increased tourist flows from these countries.
Also, ways for expatriates to promote Greece in the US and Canada were explored.
On her part, the alternate tourism minister underlined that direct air connections help increase tourism and also contribute to the closer relationship of the diaspora in the US and Canada with Greece.
The 2015 AHEPA delegation was led by the association’s supreme president, Phillip Frangos; executive director, Basil Mossaidis and the president of the Athens chapter, Nikos Papadopoulos.
During the meeting it was announced that Ms. Kountoura will visit Washington in September.
