Russia Keen to See Greece Emerge as Medical Tourism Destination
The President of Russia Vladimir Putin is interested in further strengthening Greek-Russian relations, which includes cooperations for the development of medical tourism in Greece, the head of the health sector of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry informed Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura.
In a recent meeting in Athens, Ms. Kountoura presented the opportunities and possibilities that are opening up for the development of medical tourism in Greece and focused on the high level of scientific staff and specialized rehabilitation centers in the country.
The alternate tourism minister also underlined that the ministry has launched cooperations with the Greek Medical Tourism Council (ELITOUR) and industry professionals and added that working groups are expected to be set up soon for the development of thematic health tourism in Greece.
She urged the Russian side to cooperate with Greek tourism stakeholders to develop medical tourism, underlining that such ventures would be beneficial for both sides and also help deal with seasonality.
On his part, Dr. Rykodanyy stressed that Russia desires for Greece to become a destination where Russian citizens can visit and enjoy medical tourism services of high quality.
