Following their win in the European Deaf Football Championship for the second consecutive year, the Panathlitikos Deaf Association (POK) was welcomed on Tuesday at the Tourism Ministry in Athens by Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura.
“This year there were many financial problems but we overcame them thanks to the assistance offered by Ms. Kountoura”, POK President Konstantinos Gargalis said while thanking the alternate tourism minister.
“Without her support I doubt if we would have managed to get where we are and, even more, win the Champions League”, he added.
On her part, Ms. Kountoura said that POK’s championship success for a second year, is a great gift.
“It is very important to stand by them, especially when they are at such a high level and bring such success that promotes our country internationally”, she said.
As a thank you, the association gave Ms. Kountoura the team’s football jersey.
