New ‘Viking Star’ Cruise Ship Arrives at Piraeus Port

The Viking Star, the newest cruise ship of Viking Ocean Cruises, sailed into Piraeus Port on Tuesday on its maiden voyage in the Mediterranean.

The ship’s Captain, Gulleik Skagasto, was warmly welcomed by officials of the Piraeus Port Authority who presented him with a commemorative plaque and books for the ship’s library during a special ceremony on board.

The ship’s maiden voyage began on April 11 from Istanbul and will include stops at Santorini and Venice.

The Viking Star has a length of 220 meters, 465 cabins to accommodate up to 930 passengers and a modern Scandinavian décor.

The Viking Star, is the first of three new ships of Viking Ocean Cruises. Two more ships are to join Viking Star in 2016: the Viking Sea and the Viking Sky.
