When recently interviewed by a journalist from Greek STAR Channel on the occasion of the actor’s new action film Run all Night, the Irish actor was also asked to comment on the fact that “the Greeks are struggling to get back the Parthenon marbles.

“They should give them back. Period.”, Liam Neeson replied.

“Give them back to where they were stolen from. They should be given back. Absolutely.”

This is not the first time a Hollywood actor has voiced his opinion in regards to the dispute between Greece and the United Kingdom that began ever since parts of the Parthenon were removed by Lord Elgin, British ambassador to the Ottoman empire, over 200 years ago and shipped off to England.

Last year, George Clooney and Bill Murray both said they believed the UK should return the Parthenon Marbles to Greece.

At the time, Maria Pullinger Koutsikou, campaign manager for Marbles Reunited, told the British press that it is always positive when public figures speak in favor of reunification of the Parthenon Marbles as it helps raise awareness.
