Greece Aims to Boost Medical Tourism
Greek Alternate Minister of Tourism Elena Kountoura focused on the significant growth prospects of Medical Tourism in Greece during the International Health Tourism Convention (IHTC) that opened on Thursday in central Athens.
During her speech, Minister Kountoura said that the ministry aims for Greece to establish a high position on the global tourism scene through the country’s national tourism strategy.
“Medical tourism can become a pillar of development with the involvement of the medical and hotel industry”, she said.
Referring to the comparative advantages of the country, she noted that Greece’s sufficient medical resources, adequate facilities and quality services could contribute to the development of medical tourism.
The ministries of tourism and health have established the conditions for the practice of medical tourism in Greece as well as the prerequisites for the certification of medical providers and the granting of a special medical tourism seal for enterprises.
The International Health Tourism Convention will run until Sunday.
