First Greek Tourism Workshop in Riyadh Eyes Mideast Market
The 1st Greek Tourism Workshop to be held in Riyadh, on April 19, aims to tap into the vast potential of the Middle Eastern market, amid increasing interest by Arab travellers and expansion plans by Greek tour operators.
Jointly organized by Tourism Today Events and Mideast Travel, the event aims to attract high-income visitors and foster the conditions for profitable partnerships between Greek and Saudi tourism enterprises.
The initiative comes at a time when Greece is opening up to the Middle Eastern market. According to recent SETE Intelligence figures, a 33 percent increase has been recorded in the number of arrivals from the UAE to Greece last year. To keep up with the demand, Aegean Airlines will be offering direct flights to Riyadh, among other Middle Eastern cities, this summer, with many Mideast carriers are planning to follow suit.
The 1st Greek Tourism Workshop will include presentations of Greek destinations, meetings with Saudi governmental authorities as well as B2B meetings between Greek sector professionals and Arab travel agents.
“This event is a unique opportunity for all tourism operators in Greece, to show off their products in a market with unlimited potential that includes everyone from the average tourist to the members of the royal family,” said Mideast Travel owner and managing director, Katerina Mousbeh.
According to the latest international tourism figures, incoming tourism from the Middle East and North Africa is expected to produce revenue of up to 94 billion dollars in 2020.
Specialized in the Middle East, Persian Gulf and North African tourism markets, Mideast Travel has been operating in the Greek market since 1983.
