Greek Wine Limnio Porto Carras Gets Thumbs Up in Blind Taste Test
Greek wine Limnio, a member of the Porto Carras family, was singled out during a blind taste test ahead of the annual ProWein wines and spirits trade fair set to take place in Dusseldorf, Germany, on March 15-17.
Bordeaux-based wine tasting journal Tasted 100% Blind organized a blind tasting session with the help of award-winning sommeliers, who selected Limnio Porto Carras – P.D.O “Meliton Slopes” – vintage 2012 for its ruby color, spicy aromas and sweet tannins, adding one more distinction to the roster of Domaine Porto Carras, one of Greece’s largest organic vineyards.
Built in 1970, the Porto Carras Winery and its vineyards have contributed greatly to the growth of the Greek wine industry. It is here, that University of Bordeaux professor Emile Peynaud lent a helping hand in developing the first “Greek” Cabernet Sauvignon.
