Aiming to attract visitors from Bulgaria all year round, the Region of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace participated in the 32nd edition of the international tourist fair “Holiday and SPA Expo” in Sofia, Bulgaria, under the slogan “If you loved us in the summer then you will adore us in the spring”.

At this year’s Holiday and SPA Expo, which ran February 12-14, the region promoted the beaches of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace while presenting the advantages that make it a 12-month destination: natural beauty, cultural events, archaeological monuments, rich flavors, traditions and outdoor sports activities.

“We have culture, history, nature, entertainment and sport! Whether it’s winter or summer, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace enchants visitors,” Bulgarian visitors at the expo were informed by the region’s representatives.

According to the regional governor of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace George Pavlidis, tourism will be the heart of the region’s development model.

On his part, deputy prefect responsible for tourism Michalis Amiridis gave a series of interviews to the Bulgarian media and gave particular emphasis to the leisure opportunities available in the region throughout the year..

“East Macedonia and Thrace was present in Sofia to remind that we offer an authentic experience of Greek culture,” Mr. Amiridis said.

The region’s stand hosted the municipalities of Pangeo, Nestos, Prossotsani and many professionals from Didymoticho, Alexandroupoli, Samothrace, Komotini, Maronia, Xanthi and Drama.
