Thessaloniki Hoteliers Eye Potential of Turkey Tourists at EMITT
Set on tapping into the growing potential of incoming tourism from Turkey, the Thessaloniki Hotels Association (THA) participated in this year’s East Mediterranean International Tourism & Travel Exhibition – EMITT 2015, which took place last weekend at the Tuyap Exhibition Center in Istanbul.
As part of its long-term promotional campaign, which involves active participation in major international trade and travel shows, the THA took part in EMITT with the goal to attract Turkish tourists and open up to a promising market with targeted activities for the promotion of Thessaloniki and its surrounding regions, including the Halkidiki peninsula, Pieria and Imathia.
The association’s campaign highlighted Thessaloniki’s tourism potential as a prime city break destination that can provide activities, accommodation and site seeing for all tastes and pockets.
The THA underlined the northern port city’s culinary traditions and offerings, shopping opportunities as well as many of the city’s Ottoman-era sites and monuments.
An additional advantage is the easy access through direct flights connecting Thessaloniki with Istanbul as well as regular bus services between the two cities.
