Yades Greek Historic Hotels Welcomes New Member
The Marpessa Smart Luxury Hotel, an authentic mansion of the 1920 located in Agrinio, has joined the Greek Historic Hotels network and subsequently the Historic Hotels of Europe organization, Yades Greek Historic Hotels announced on Thursday.
The Marpessa is now one of the 550 selected hotels in Europe to be recognized by the Historic Hotels of Europe for embracing the cultural heritage through its architecture and exceptional hospitality ambiance.
The hotel’s owner, Marianna Zoidi Pistiola, aims for Marpessa to become the “destination reference” of Western Greece.
“We wish to take our guests to an inspiring journey to introduce them to the culture, the history and the magnificent natural beauty of the surroundings through the various activities that take place here,” Ms. Pistiola said.
To be selected for membership in the Yades Greek Historic Hotels and the Historic Hotels of Europe, a hotel must operate in a building with a recognized historical significance, provide high-quality service, and share the vision of the organizations to act as guardians of the past while being outstanding host of the present.
“The Marpessa is not only a valued historic property renovated with great respect to its historical characteristics, but also a hotel that its team is driven by great pride and joy to create wonderful memories for its guests,” said Barbara Avdis, Managing Director of Yades Greek Historic Hotels and Chairman of the Historic Hotels of Europe.
The Historic Hotels of Europe was established in 1997 with the objective to promote the unique cultural and historic heritage of Europe.
The prestigious network offers outstanding accommodation, fine regional cuisine, and the opportunity to experience hospitality in its purest tradition. All members of the Historic Hotels of Europe have successfully maintained their authenticity and sense of a place creating a lasting memory of a Europe both past and present.
The Marpessa is the 18th Greek hotel to become a member of the network. In 2015 another two hotels in Rhodes and Crete are expected to be added to the Historic Hotels of Europe.
