Spetses’ Poseidonion Grand World’s Best Classic Boutique Hotel
One of the country’s finest hotels, the 100-year-old Poseidonion Grand Hotel on the island of Spetses, has been named the “World’s Best Classic Boutique Hotel” and “Europe’s Best Classic Boutique Hotel”.
The Poseidonion Grand Hotel, which has for the last 100 years stood as an architectural landmark on Spetses’ Poseidonion Square, was awarded for its elegance and its respect to history.
The Poseidonion competed with boutique hotels from Australia, Fiji, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Indonesia, Laos, Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, the UK and the US at this year’s World Boutique Hotel Awards 2014 ceremony held at the Montcalm Hotel, Marble Arch, in London. The annual event brings together hoteliers, press and industry insiders from across the globe.
Emmanuel Vordonis, president of the Spetses Initiative, the company that undertook the renovation and management of the hotel, received the award.
The two awards are the latest addition to the hotel’s series of distinctions including the “World’s Best Classic Boutique Hotel 2012”, “Europe’s Best Boutique Hotel 2013”, “Best Small Hotel Greece”, “Best Hotel Architecture Greece” and “Best Hotel Architecture Europe” in 2012.
The Poseidonion Grand Hotel was also awarded for the best use of social media in the travel/hospitality category at this year’s Social Media Awards 2014.
