National Geographic Crete Show Charms London

The tourism advisor for the Region of Crete, Mihalis Vamiedakis, presented the new promotion plan for Crete at London’s National Geographic Store.
Cretan culture, cuisine and natural beauty make up the Region of Crete’s new tourism promotion strategy presented in London on the sidelines of the World Travel Market (WTM) earlier this month.
Tourism advisor for the Region of Crete Mihalis Vamiedakis presented the local authority’s new promotion plan while speaking at an event organized at London’s National Geographic Store, hosting a show featuring Cretan culture, cuisine, flora and fauna.
Crete’s rich history, traditions and habitat give it an advantage over other destinations, Mr. Vamiedakis said, and invited guests to visit the island and see for themselves.
Some 150 guests had the chance to see the new videos promoting Crete as a primary tourist destination and sample Cretan delicacies on offer.
“In collaboration with local authorities and entrepreneurs, the Region of Crete performed well in London, demonstrating the advantages of our island and presenting those features that make it a unique destination. The conditions are good and we estimate there will be further strengthening of the tourism trend,” Mr. Vamiedakis said.
The exhibition, which ran through to 9 November, at London’s National Geographic Store was organized by the Region of Crete and featured among others gastronomy, traditional dance, Cretan history and culture workshops.
