Georgios A. Tsakiris, President Hellenic Chamber of Hotels
Philoxenia 2014 greeting.
2013 was an exceptional year for Greek tourism while 2014 turned out even better, with initial results suggesting an excellent course and a record year for Greek tourism. This success justifies us professionals and those involved in the sector and the government, which from the very beginning showed support by re-establishing the Tourism Ministry and at the same time providing a political continuity in its leadership and strategy. The results of this policy are obvious, with the most important being the absolute comeback of Greek tourism with a very successful national tourism performance for the second consecutive year.
I would like to especially draw attention to this year’s positive outlook. I would like to request from all those who form the Greek tourism product to not consider these past two years as the end of an effort but as the beginning of one. As professionals we must operate with hope and vision and try, through all levels of offered services, to ensure the best possible satisfaction of the visitors in our country. It is essential to perceive that the careful management of a successful tourism year is the foundation and condition to have equally successful years in the future.
Considering as a fact that we are all looking in the same direction, I hope that we will have another exceptional year in 2015, for Greek tourism as well as for the economic and social prosperity of our country.
